Redis cache is one of the most effective ways to speed up a WordPress or WooCommerce site, and it's available right from Your Apex Managed Panel.
What Redis Cache Is #
Redis is an in-memory data store that WordPress can use as an "object cache." Instead of querying the database every time for the same information, Redis stores it in fast memory for near-instant retrieval. This reduces database load and speeds up page generation.
How to Enable Redis Cache #
- Log in to my.apexmanagedhosting.com and open Your Apex Managed Panel.
- Select the instance where you want to enable Redis.
- Go to the Performance tab.
- Find the Redis Cache option and toggle it to On.
- The panel will automatically configure the connection settings and activate the Redis object cache plugin on your WordPress install.
- Allow a minute or two for the change to fully take effect.
How to Verify Redis Is Working #
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Look for a dedicated Object Cache or Redis menu item.
- Check the connection status — it should read "Connected" with cache statistics.
- Alternatively, in Your Apex Managed Panel, return to the Performance tab and confirm the Redis status shows "Active."
A high "cache hit rate" means Redis is working effectively.
Expected Performance Improvement #
WooCommerce stores with many products and categories tend to see the biggest improvements. Simpler sites will see gains in server response time (Time to First Byte).
A Few Tips #
- Make sure any additional caching plugins are compatible with the Redis setup configured by Apex.
- After major content or plugin changes, clear the object cache so visitors see the latest version.
- Redis works alongside (not instead of) our CDN — enabling both gives you the best results.
