A contact form is one of the most important features for any small business website — it gives visitors an easy way to reach you without exposing your email address publicly.
Choosing a Contact Form Plugin #
We recommend starting with a free plugin like WPForms Lite or Contact Form 7. Both are reliable, widely used, and simple to set up without any coding knowledge. This guide uses WPForms Lite as an example.
Step 1: Install the Plugin #
- Log into your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
- Search for “WPForms” in the search bar.
- Click Install Now next to “WPForms Lite,” then click Activate.
Step 2: Create a Basic Form #
- After activation, click the new WPForms menu item, then click Add New.
- Give your form a name, like “Contact Us.”
- Choose the Simple Contact Form template — this automatically includes Name, Email, and Message fields.
- Drag and drop additional fields from the left panel if needed (like a phone number field).
- Click Save.
Step 3: Embed the Form on a Page #
- Go to Pages and either create a new page (like “Contact”) or edit an existing one.
- Click the + icon to add a new block, and search for “WPForms.”
- Add the WPForms block, then select your newly created form from the dropdown.
- Click Publish or Update to save the page.
Step 4: Test the Form #
- Visit the live page on your website.
- Fill it out with test information and click Submit.
- Confirm you see a success message.
- Check your inbox (and spam folder) to confirm the submission email arrived.
Where Form Submissions Are Sent #
By default, form submissions are emailed to the WordPress admin email address (found under Settings > General). Most plugins also let you view submissions inside the plugin’s dashboard under an “Entries” tab.
