How to Restore a Backup in Your Apex Managed Panel

2 min read

Mistakes happen — a plugin update goes wrong, content gets accidentally deleted, or a design change doesn't turn out the way you hoped. That's exactly what backups are for. Apex automatically creates daily backups of your site, and restoring one is quick and straightforward.

Before You Restore #

  • Restoring will replace your site's current files and database with the version from the backup you choose. Any changes made after that backup was created will be lost.
  • If you're unsure which backup to choose, check the dates against when the issue you're fixing first appeared.
  • Consider creating a fresh, on-demand backup of your current state before restoring, just in case.

Step-by-Step: Restoring a Backup #

  1. Log in to my.apexmanagedhosting.com and open Your Apex Managed Panel.
  2. Select the instance you want to restore from the list of instances.
  3. Click on the Backups tab within the instance details.
  4. You'll see a list of available backup restore points, organized by date and time.
  5. Identify the backup you want to restore.
  6. Click Restore next to your chosen backup point.
  7. A confirmation window will appear. Read it carefully.
  8. Click Confirm Restore to begin the process.

What Happens During the Restore #

  1. Your site is taken temporarily offline (usually just a few minutes).
  2. The current files and database are replaced with the selected backup.
  3. The site comes back online automatically once the restore completes.

Most restores finish within 5–15 minutes depending on site size.

After the Restore #

  1. Visit your website to confirm it looks and functions as expected.
  2. Log in to your WordPress admin and check that recent content, plugins, and settings match what you intended to restore.
  3. If you use caching (such as Redis) or a CDN, clear the cache so visitors see the restored version right away.
