How to Install WordPress on a New Instance

One of the best parts of hosting with Apex is that WordPress is installed for you automatically the moment your instance is created — there's no manual installation process to worry about. This article explains exactly what happens behind the scenes and how to find everything you need to start building your site.

What Happens Automatically #

When you create a new instance through Your Apex Managed Panel, our system automatically:

1. Provisions a secure server environment for your site.
2. Installs the latest stable version of WordPress.
3. Creates a unique database and connects it to your WordPress install.
4. Generates a temporary WordPress admin username and password.
5. Applies baseline security settings, including a firewall and SSL certificate.

This entire process typically takes just a few minutes, and you'll see the instance status change from "Provisioning" to "Active" in Your Apex Managed Panel once it's ready.

How to Confirm WordPress Is Installed #

1. Log in to my.apexmanagedhosting.com and open Your Apex Managed Panel.
2. Click on the instance you just created.
3. On the Instance Details page, look for the status indicator — it should read "Active."
4. You'll also see the temporary domain (or your connected custom domain) listed here, which you can click to preview your live site.

If your site loads with a default WordPress theme, that confirms the installation was successful.

Finding Your WP Admin URL and Login Credentials #

1. From the Instance Details page in Your Apex Managed Panel, locate the WordPress Admin section.
2. Here you'll find your WP Admin URL, which typically looks like yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
3. Your initial username and password are also displayed here. We strongly recommend copying these down and changing the password immediately after your first login.
4. Click the WP Admin URL to be taken directly to the WordPress login screen.

Logging In for the First Time #

1. Visit your WP Admin URL.
2. Enter the username and temporary password provided.
3. Once logged in, go to Users > Profile in the WordPress dashboard.
4. Scroll to the password field and set a new, strong password.
5. Click Update Profile to save.
