If your domain is currently registered elsewhere, transferring it to Apex Managed Hosting lets you manage your domain and hosting in one place.
Why Transfer Your Domain #
Consolidating your domain and hosting under one provider means:
- One dashboard to manage everything, instead of juggling multiple logins
- Simpler DNS management, since your domain and hosting settings live in the same system
- One combined billing relationship, making renewals easier to track
What You Need Before Starting #
Gather the following from your current domain registrar:
- Unlock your domain: Disable the “domain lock” or “transfer lock” feature in your current registrar’s account.
- Obtain your EPP/authorization code: Also called an “auth code” or “transfer code,” this is a unique code your current registrar provides that proves you’re authorized to transfer.
- Confirm your domain is eligible: Domains generally cannot be transferred within 60 days of their initial registration or a previous transfer.
Step 1: Initiate the Transfer #
- Log into my.apexmanagedhosting.com.
- Go to the Domains section and click Transfer a Domain.
- Enter the domain name you’d like to transfer.
- Enter the EPP/authorization code.
- Complete checkout to pay for the transfer (which includes a one-year renewal).
What Happens During the Transfer #
The transfer typically takes 5–7 days. During this time:
- Your current registrar may send a confirmation email asking you to approve the transfer — check your inbox and approve it promptly to avoid delays.
- Your domain will continue to work normally throughout the transfer — there’s no downtime for your website or email.
Your Domain Renews for One Year #
As part of the transfer process, your domain’s registration is automatically extended by one additional year. This is standard practice across the domain industry.
Confirming the Transfer Is Complete #
Once finished, you’ll receive an email confirmation. You can also check status by logging into your portal and going to Domains — your transferred domain should appear with Apex listed as the registrar.
